More than 5000 cats adopted
since we started in 2004!
We have lots of cats looking for their forever homes! All of the kitties on this page are adoptable now. Drop by PetSmart in Sonora to meet some of them or get in touch if you’d like to meet a cat that is still in a foster home.
Adoption fees average $150. All adoptable cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and tested for FIV/FeLV.
To apply to adopt, please complete the adoption application below or visit PetSmart Sonora to fill one out in person.
Adoption FAQ
Do I need to adopt a female if I don’t want a cat to spray?
No! As long as the cat is well socialized and neutered, spraying should not be a problem. In fact, females can also spray, so adopting a female is not a surefire way to avoid it.
Why does it cost money to adopt a homeless cat?
We actually put a lot of resources into getting a cat ready for adoption! We give them their FVRCP vaccine, rabies vaccine, and dewormer, plus any medications they may need for parasites or illness. In addition, we spay or neuter every cat before making it ready for adoption. All of this adds up to hundreds of dollars per cat if you were to pay for these services directly, but we’re able to keep adoption prices lower due to fundraising and donations to our organization.
Is it better to adopt one cat or two?
If you want just one cat, then one cat is fine! They are social animals, but as long as you can give them plenty of attention, they’ll do just fine. If you are interested in multiple cats, though, adopting two who are already socialized together is wonderfully rewarding for everyone. You cat two cats who already love each other, so there is no difficult transition period, and they will always have a friend to play with. Cats who can get all of their playful energy out with each other are less likely to develop play behaviors with humans that can result in scratches.
